Every wall is different: plasterboard, brick, old lime plaster. I check for pipes and cables before I drill, use the right fixing for the wall, and level everything twice.

Can you hide the TV cables?

In a trunking painted to match the wall, yes; inside a plasterboard wall often too.

What if my walls are crumbly?

Old lime plaster is common round here: I use longer fixings and resin when it needs it.
